The Open Weeks are a set of weeks along the journey which were hosted to best accommodate those wishing to join Classroom Alive for a shorter period of time (roughly a week...). Clear entry and exit points as well as slight changes in daily schedule made these weeks ideal for us to invite and host people who were looking for a less intense experience than becoming a full-student on Classroom Alive. Each Open Week had a distinct nature depending on the environment that it was taking place in.

Open Weeks

Berlin - Lübbenau

(2nd - 12th of July)

We will walk the "66-Seen-Rundweg um Berlin" from Berlin to Neuendorf am See. From there we will make our way to Lübbenau. The villages we pass are: Rüdersdorf, Hangelsberg, Bad Saarow, Wendische Rietz, Neuendorf am See & Lübbenau. There are different possibilities for leaving Classroom Alive during this Open week, most of the villages have trainstations or bus services.

The trail passes forests, swampland, meadows, fields, picturesque villages and lakes. It describes a wide arc around Berlin; howerver, you won't fancy that the capital city of Germany is that close.

Vienna - Bratislava

(11th - 16th of August)

From Vienna to Bratislava, Classroom Alive will follow the E8 - European Long Distance Trail. We will walk for about 80 km along the Donau River, through the Donau-Auen National Park. It will take us 5 full days of hiking and studying.

The villages we pass are: Eckartsau, Hainburg an der Donau & Wolfsthal.

The Donau-Auen National Park preserves the last reamaining major wetlands environment in Central Europe. The Open week can also easily be combined with visiting two European capitals, Vienna and Bratislava.

Tata - Budapest

(30th of August - 5th of September)

From Tata, Classroom Alive will walk for 6 days (80 km.) to Budapest. On this part of the route, we won't follow a set trail. This means that we will use maps, a compass and our intuition to find good hiking paths and roads to get to the Hungarian Capital city. On the way we will pass villages such as Tarjan, Zsambek and Budakeszi.

This Open Week can be compined with visiting Budapest where Classroom Alive will also hold a Node.
