Are you interested in exploring how you participate in the world with a group of fellow searchers ? How about taking your questions on a long distance walk across the changing landscapes of Europe? If so, come on over and join us! Classroom Alive is open for anyone’s participation. The studies will thrive off as much diversity of life experiences as possible. Through the journey you are invited to join as a full-time student, participate for an Open Week, or come to a Node. Your participation will make Classroom Alive a more dynamic and rich education!  There are four ways for you to join, as a Student, as a Participant in an Open Week,  at a Node, or as a host.

As a student you are asked to take up some kind of intentional Individual Research. The topics, outcomes, etc., of your individual research are completely up to you. As a student at Classroom Alive you will be joining a peer group who are committing to support each other in their studies, exploring with care and compassion all that they meet along the way. Joining for an Open Week is for those looking for a shorter and more hosted experience of Classroom Alive. If you are looking for an opportunity to join us for some time, but are unsure about traversing across Europe to find us “somewhere between two towns,” these weeks are for you.

Whether you are interested in joining as a student, or as a participant for an open week, we ask you to follow a few simple steps.  It is the fundamental intention of this education that it is open to all students that feel called to it. Therefore, although all students will be asked to cover their living expenses on the trip (estimated at €60-70 per week for food and camping permits), as well as bringing their own study and camping materials, we encourage you to take the following steps based on whether this is right for you - rather than based on material constraints.  The steps are as follows:

  • Download either the open weeks letter or student letter and read carefully. In the letter you will find more information about the responsibility of the students, the Individual Research, the constitution of Classroom Alive, the stewards, daily & weekly schedule, food, accommodation, gear, safety, finances and how to meet up.
  • Send your Letter of Intent, described in the letter.  We will be in further contact via e-mail or skype if we have an questions about what you have written.
  • When it is clear for both you and us that this is where you are supposed to be, we will then send you an invitation for where to meet us on the road, and if you will be joining us as a student, we will post a short description of your studies on the individual research page!

Along the walk are six different Nodes or short gatherings. The nodes will be opportunities to meet, share, and collaborate. To find out more about what participating at a node would be like and to see when and where they will be check out the Nodes page.
